City government gives corporate welfare to the merchants of death
The social services funds should be distributed based on need, not political agendas.
City government has a fund for local charities, and the Bloomington City Council voted to distribute $500,000 to local charities last month. The total amount requested by various charitable organizations was $965,372, which is nearly twice the amount available for grants.
The Bloomington Planned Parenthood branch is part of a much larger corporation across Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, and western Washington that boasts over $83 million in annual revenue and a budget surplus of $183,836.00. The Bloomington PP clearly does not need the $7,500 they got from city government last month, and they have never needed handouts from city government while many charitable organizations who could actually benefit from a grant are frozen out. This is and has always been a political endorsement from city government.
In years past, the Jack Hopkins fund allegedly prioritized one-time expenses, but that was changed as the city council was openly subsidizing Planned Parenthood's operating budget. It is worth examining what is actually being funded. $5000 is going to birth control. A new life is created when a sperm fertilizes an egg, but hormonal birth control has been documented to also prevent implantation - killing the new life by denying her nourishment.
The city council has long objected to pro-life opposition to funding PP, claiming that the funds do not go to abortion. In the case of hormonal birth control, it does fund chemical abortion. The council abandoned any pretense of not funding surgical abortion by paying for travel expenses of women who have to travel out of state go get abortions once the Indiana state legislature banned abortion in this state.
The grant also funds so-called "gender affirming hormones." This is designed to radically disrupt the normal chemical balance of a human body, giving men feminine features and giving women masculine features. But God created man in His image, male and female. Surgically mutilating and chemically altering the human body defaces the image of God, and the latter should not be funded by city government. The city council openly rebukes the objections of Christians who do not want to fund this abuse, forcing us at gunpoint to pay for these things.
No, I am not being hyperbolic when I say we are forced at gunpoint to fund Planned Parenthood. What do you think will happen if we stop paying our property taxes? The county will go to collections and eventually the Sheriff will send men with guns to confiscate your land and home. It will not go well for you if you resist.
All of this needs to stop. It is an abuse of the social services funding program to give this much money to a corporation that clearly does not need it for political purposes, and it is an insult to the agencies denied the opportunity to get a grant they could actually use. It is also an insult to thousands of Christians who do not want our tax money paying for these things. We need a city council who actually takes this process seriously, and allocates resources based on need rather than a pro-abortion political agenda. If that will not happen, the Republican supermajority in the state legislature needs to step up and put a stop to this farce. This is exactly why Republicans were elected, and they have failed us for two decades.
